Navigating the complexities of school for children with congenital heart disorders

Both the medical community and the school community are highly complex environments. Families of children with congenital heart defects learn to navigate both. Brenda Henne presents an overview of the roles of the education specialist in a congenital heart program, as well as the importance of early intervention - and school interventions in particular - in supporting children with congenital heart disorders.

Brenda Henne is an education specialist with the hospital school program at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. Brenda specializes in working with children with congenital heart disorders.

Presented at the 6th Annual Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Symposium in June 2017.

C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital is consistently ranked among the nation’s top children’s hospitals. Learn more at www.mottchildren.org
